A picture book and Caldecott Medal winner by Dan Santat is about an imaginary friend living on an island far away where imaginary friends are created. All imaginary friends wait on this island to be imagined by a child. Beekle has waited for his chance to be imagined, but his chance never came. He decides to leave the island and sail through unknown waters with many scary things to find his child. Once Beekle arrives in the new world he looks everywhere for his friend but cannot find them. After a bit, he climbs a tree and searches for his friend. Suddenly, Beeckle hears someone below, her name is Alice, and they are perfect for each other. They shared snacks and told funny jokes and did the unimaginable together. Parents will enjoy reading this to their children and showing them the creative art and illustrations with friendly-looking characters. The colors are dynamic and filled with strong details in each illustration. Teachers and librarians can provide this book to their students to show that reaching out can lead to positive results.
