Author Jess Keating and illustrator David Degrand present a non-fiction book about the grossest animals from around the world. The book uses creative language that will entertain as well as educate children. The side margins contain numerous facts that will help young researchers working on school projects. There are more than seventeen animals in this book that will disgust and delight the reader. Some of these creatures include the snot otter, the zombie worm, the dumpy tree frog, the giraffe, and the maggot. Many of these animals are not suspected of being gross until the reader learns about the drooling, pooping, boogers, and farts. For example, the parrotfish poops so much that some beaches contain eighty-five percent parrotfish poop rather than sand. The illustrations are humorous just as they are gross and are drawn in cartoon style fashion. Every animal has its own crisp clear photograph that will delight and mesmerize.
