Creepy Carrots is a 2013 Randolph Caldecott Medal winner by Aaron Reynolds and illustrated by Peter Brown. The story may seem scary but it leaves one understanding why little rabbits should not take more than they need. The story starts off with a Jasper Rabbit eating in a carrot patch without any repercussions. Everyday he comes to the patch morning, day, and night for his fill of carrots without a care in the world. Soon he feels something is off when he starts hearing the steps of carrots slowly creeping to get him. We see Jasper searching for the creeping carrots, but never really getting a clear view of their presence. The illustrations provide a mix of ominous color of black and white and the ever presence of orange searching for Jasper. A clever story with a message that will resonate with parents and kids.
